When your student comes home from their session at school sit down with him/her and review the assignments that he/she has listed for the week on their Student Log. Continue to monitor their progress throughout each week.
Then the day before they come to school (or that morning) have your student again show you all of their completed work. Use the log sheet to determine how much work has or has not been completed. This is the best way to monitor and encourage their progress.
Often your parental support is the difference between their completing assignments or not. To be effective... you have to be aware of their assignments and what they have completed on a weekly and even daily basis.
The Student Log is meant to be a center point for you and your student to focus on his or her academic progress. Please use it at home, preferably on a daily basis for you to assist your student in their study efforts.
