Hi, I am Diane Kelly and I will be the P.A.T. (Parents As Teachers) Facilitator this year at Odyssey Charter School (K-8). I am really looking forward to working with you during the many workshops I am planning for the 2009-2010 school year!
The P.A.T. workshops are designed to give Odyssey parents teaching strategies and ideas to use when working with their child at home. When a parent spends time working with their own child one-on-one, the child's academic success increases significantly. This is what we ALL want for your child! This year, you have taken on another role in your child's life. Not only are you the wonderful parent, but now you are the academic educator as well! About Me:
I am orginally from Minnesota, Land of 10,000 lakes! I have been teaching in the Clark County School District for the the past 18 years. My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education and my Master's degree is in Curriculum & Instruction. As a P.A.T. facilitator, I will bring not only my professional knowledge on education, but also the experiences of teaching my own two children in my classroom. I definitely understand the role as "Parent As Teacher." It can be quite rewarding and yes, challenging at times, too. I hope to be a great resource to you as you take on this role...as a P.A.T.
